Charity Nos. 3 and 4American Red Cross and Humane Society of the United StatesFebruary 28, 2006 ~ A donation of $50 each has been sent to American Red Cross and Hume Society of the United States. Thank you! These two charities will continue to be the charities of choice here at The Skating Times. September 10, 2005 ~ A new Collages for Charity campaign aims to raise money to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina. On August 29, 2005, the Gulf Coast region of the United States was devastated by Hurricane Katrina affecting the lives of thousands of people and their pets. I have decided to split the commission of photo sales equally between two charities ~ American Red Cross and Humane Society of the United States. Charity No. 2American Cancer SocietyA donation of $110 has been sent to the American Cancer Society. Thank you. Beginning May 20, 2005, all photo sale commissions will be donated to the American Cancer Society to help find a cure for this truly evil disease. Cancer has saddened my life. I watched my 83 year old father suffer tremendously and finally pass away from pancreatic cancer in October 2002. I also lost my mother who battled lung cancer but the chemo treatments were too much for a frail 83 year old woman and she passed away in December 2004 (but she did live to see and celebrate as her beloved Red Sox finally won the World Series). I also lost several cats to cancer including my sweetest Tillie. I have several other family members and friends who have been dealing with cancer as well. So if you would like to buy skating photos and help a worthy cause, please visit TheSkatingTimes.dotphoto.com Most of the purchase price is retained by dotPhoto, but the remaining portion of the purchase price (approx. $2-3 per item) will be donated to charity -- see Price List below. Charity No. 1OxFam AmericaThe first charity selected to receive a donations was OxFam America to help the Asian Earthquake and Tsunami victims. Commissions totaling $165 was sent to Oxfam America in May of 2005. According to the OxFam America website, they have received sufficient donations to help the victims of the December 2004 devastation and are requesting donations for their Global Emergency fund.
